Calapooia User Reviews

3/5/10 PM: After the huge disappointment at Henrys we decided to try the Calapooia Brewing Company. It wasnt fine dining but I was not expecting it to be. My girl and I came from Corvallis after some really bad service from Wilson Motors Parts department and wanted lunch. We have heard mixed reviews about CBC so we thought lets try it. If anybody has ever watched the TV show "Cheers" you might know what Im talking about. It was a very welcoming establishment. The employees, and the others. (which I assume are regulars) had very nice conversation with us. It was like we were all friends. The beer selection was pretty good. We both ordered grilled sandwiches and they were very tasty. The atmosphere is very relaxed and we felt right at home. This kind of place might not be for everybody because the mood music was fine for me but maybe not for everybody. We both truly enjoyed our experience there.

12/08/08 Calapooia Brewing: Hello. I thought I'd send you a quick note to update you on a few things concerning Calapooia Brewing in this, our 3rd year of operation. Kids are now welcome until 6pm. We recently purchased a P.O.S.[Ed note: POS = Point of Sale] system which will allow us greater efficiency in getting food orders to the kitchen and food out to the customers. This will also allow us to once again take credit/debit cards (After a dispute with our merchant sevice provider, we chose to temporarily go cash only with an ATM). We hope to have the POS installed and our staff trained by January 2009. We also recently aquired Siletz Brewing and are in the process of moving that larger equipment from Siletz over to Albany in order to significantly increase our beer production. This will allow us wider distribution of our kegged product and also allow us to start bottling. And yes, we will also be brewing Siltez beer. This means we will be producing two brands under one roof. Exciting times for us and Albany!

10/23/08 KD: I go there when I'm in the mood for some really good beer. Their beer selection is extensive and covers nearly the full spectrum of beer choices. My preference is an IPA or any really "hoppy" beer which they normally have. I lived in Bend for a number of years and Calapooia, in my estimation, rivals the beers put out by Deschutes, Cascade Lakes, and Bend Brewing Co. The food is palatable especially after a few pints and the presentation is average at best. The service could use some work but I love going there for the beer.

8/21/08 MM: Food is good somewhat gourmet pub food. The beer is pretty good. It's a little irritating that this is a cash only place. They offer an atm on-site but it charges you $2, plus the hit from your own bank. Their prices aren't cheap so they should be able to afford the fees the credit card companies are charging. Tater tots...yum!

05/15/08 VL: Calapooia rocks! Awesome burgers!!! Tasted other items off of everyone's plate at our table and were outstanding as well. Great beers, too! We were there on a Saturday night and a band was playing which was very good. Definitely going back!

And: The new owners are first rate folks. Food is great. Be sure to try the Reuben, and, of course, the tator tots.
